Christmas Nail Art!

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! Well, it's Boxing Day here now (the day after Christmas Day for all my American friends). I've been doing nail art right up until the big day, well when I've had the time. I've been pretty busy as when I went on holidays from work I started doing my work placement hours for my Certificate III in Nail Technology (update on that soon). I've tried to do a variety of different nail art, from hand painted to stamping and nail vinyls, so let me know which design is your favourite!

First up I did these hand painted Christmas lights. For my base I used "We Three Kings" by my own indie brand Miss Priss Polish. I then used a black polish to create the string of lights and a white polish to highlight the bulbs. I then used "Piece of My Heart" and "Apple of My Eye" by Miss Priss Polish to colour in the bulbs. Considering I haven't done anything hand painted in quite a while I am rather happy with the finished result.

For this next mani I used "Dreaming of A White Christmas" by Miss Priss and then did some candy cane stamping over the top using MM82XL by Messy Mansion... This one looked better in my head, as the polish kind of reminds me of candy canes I thought candy canes over the top would be awesome, but the image blended into the background, and didn't really stand out as much as it did in my head.

This next one is a little non-traditional but hey, I was feeling the vibes. For the base I was testing a new Miss Priss Polish (keep an eye on my indie brand's Instagram account when when this polish becomes available @missprisspolish). I then hand painted on some roses, don't ask me what polishes I used because I am a terrible nail blogger and forgot to write them down. But I mixed colours together anyway, so even if I told you what polishes I used it wouldn't be the same. I then took a picture of my nails in case I messed up the next part. I then stamped on the little arrows using stamping plate MM82XL by Messy Mansion and the stag from stamping plate BPL-032 from the Born Pretty Store.

For this next Christmas themed mani I was playing around with some colours and gradients late at night, so it's not my best work, but it looked awesome anyway so I needed to share! For my base I used "Ruby" by Celestial Cosmetics and then sponged on "Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" by Miss Priss Polish.  I love these two colours together! I then felt like it was still kind of missing something so I created a stamping decal using MM82XL stamping plate by Messy Mansion with "Ruby" and "Leaf" by Celestial Cosmetics.

Now this is some cheat nail art! For my base I used "Dreaming of A White Christmas" by Miss Priss Polish and then covered my nails in water decals from the Born Pretty Store!

Christmas sweater inspired nail using nail vinyls. I can't remember where I got the nail vinyls from as they have been sitting in my draw since last Christmas. For my base I used "Most Wonderful Time of The Year" by Miss Priss with "Snow Me White" by Sinful Colors. The nail vinyls were really stiff and didn't really stick to my nails very well, even though I cut the edges to try and get it to bend and stick down, but it didn't work too well so I had to do a fair bit of touching up by hand. Due to my poor nail vinyl use and even worse hand painted cover ups this mani looks much better from a distance. Up close you can see all of the imperfections, which makes me sad, but hey I'm not perfect so it's ok, right?

Next, Christmas Trees 4 ways! For my base I used "Set The Sails" by Miss Priss Polish. I then used some wide straight nail vinyls to tape off the shape of my trees. For all of the trees I used the same two green polishes "Leaf" by Celestial Cosmetics and "Pistache" by Sinful Colours. For my pointer finger I did a water marble. For my middle finger I filled in my tree with dots. For my ring finger I added some striping tape and sponged on a mix of my two greens. Then for my little finger I did a gradient. I wanted to add some star shaped glitter on top of the trees, but it turns out that I only had silver stars, but they would blend in with the sliver background too much, so I didn't think that through too much. Instead I found some gold nail studs and put them on.

I think this last one is my favourite. I used a linear holo powder for my base, stamped on the Christmas ornaments using plate MM82XL by Messy Mansion then coloured it in using a range of jelly polishes from Miss Priss Polish and O.P.I.
