Harry Potter + Nail Polish = AWESOME!

How could you go wrong with Harry Potter themed nail polish?
It's simple math: Harry Potter + Nail Polish = AWESOME!

As soon as I saw the Magical World Collection by Alanna Renee I knew I needed it in my life (like I need almost every other polish in my life)! I love how the polishes really fitted in with the books and movies.

First up is "Hedwig" named after the white owl Harry Potter got his first year.

Two coats of "Hedwig" with a top coat.

I like this one as it really does remind me of Harry's owl Hedwig. This one has tiny white, yellow and black glitters as well as white bar glitters in a white base. I deiced to include macro bottle shots of the polish so that you can see all the pretty glitters in it!

Next up is "Patronus." The Patronus charm is a positive energy normally used as a defense against Dementors.

Two coats of "Patronus" with a top coat.

I was expecting this one to be a bit lighter and brighter, but in real life it it actually quite grey. However, it does have a pretty shimmer to it.  You can kind of see the shimmer and flakes in the Macro.

"Draught of Peace" is named after a potion used to relieve anxiety.

Two coats of "Draught of Peace" with a top coat.

I was expecting this one to be more of a light/bright turquoise, but in real life it is actually a bit darker and dustier in colour. It does have a beautiful silver shimmer to it though.

Macro of "Draught of Peace" - the black specks are actually silver.

"Chocolate Frog" is inspired by the dark blue packaging. When opened the chocolate frog jumps around, but it is the card of the famous witch or wizard inside that you really want!    :)

Three coats of "Chocolate Frog" with a top coat.

This one was packed with different glitters in a blue jelly base. It took a bit of careful application because of all the glitter, but it was totally worth it! No fishing for glitter at all!

"Avada Kedavra" is a spell that causes instant death and is one of the three unforgivable curses. Harry Potter was the first ever wizard to survive the curse.

Four thin coats of "Avada Kedavra" with a top coat.

OMG! This green is phenomenal! Such a bright electric jelly green packed with small and medium white glitters.

Next up is "Dink of Despair." This polish was inspired by a potion that causes extreme fear.

Four thin coats of "Drink of Despair" with a top coat.

This is such a perfect and sparkly emerald green. Generally I'm not a big fan of green polishes, but the two in this collection are amazing colours with great formulas.

Next is my favorite from the whole collection, "Horcrux." A Horcrux is an object in which a dark witch or wizard hides a fragment of their soul. By hiding a part of their soul in an object a witch or wizard can resurrect them self if their body has been destroyed.

Two coats of "Horcrux" with a top coat.

The flakes and shimmers in the polish as absolutely beautiful! This polish has green/blue and silver flakes in a black base, and application is smooth too!

The polish "Dementor" is inspired by the dark creatures that feed of people's happiness. The Dementors can even consume a person's soul.

Two coats of "Dementor" with a top coat.

This polish is packed with different sized silver glitters in a black base. So much glitter! I couldn't even get a good picture of this one as all the light was reflecting off the silver glitters.

My second favorite from the Magical World Collection is "Fawkes" named after Dumbledore's phoenix. Phoenixes burst into flames and then are reborn from the ashes. They can carry extremely heavy loads and their tears have healing powers.

Three coats of "Fawkes" and a top coat.

Now this is what I call a glitter bomb!! Heaps of different red and gold glitters packed into a thin red jelly base. Sadly I really couldn't capture this one, so my photo doesn't do it justice. I blame the light reflecting off all the amazing glitter!

"Stupefy" is named after a spell that leaves the victim unconscious.

Three coats of "Stupefy" with a top coat.

I love this pink, its so bright! This one is packed with different sized white glitters in a bright pink jelly base, with a great formula for smooth application.

Macro of "Stupefy."

"Butterbeer" is named after a popular beverage in the wizard world.

Three coats of "Butterbeer" with a top coat.

This one is similar to "Avada Kedavra" and "Stupefy" as it has a very similar formula with with different sized white glitters in a bright jelly base. I love how the tiny white glitters in this one remind me of froth on top of a yummy Butterbeer.  :)

Macro of "Butterbeer."

Last one!! "Golden Snitch" inspired by one of the balls from the wizard game Quidditch. It is the seeker's job to fly around on their broom stick and catch the tiny snitch.

Three coats of "Golden Snitch" with a top coat.
Yet another glitter bomb in this collection! This golden glittery polish is packed with different sized gold glitters.

I love this collection.
Harry Potter + Nail Polish = AWESOME!
Overall I am most impressed that none of the polishes in this collection required fishing for glitter!
